A living archive of over 15,000 film titles and hundreds of thousands of items
Movie Poster Archives is unlike any other organization of its kind. We receive a massive volume of donations from collectors, dealers, distributors, businesses closing, universities, other archives, and even old warehouses around the world. Because of this breadth of sourcing, our holdings are extraordinarily diverse — and include significant duplication.
The primary mission of MPA is the preservation and documentation of film accessories. Once we have the pieces needed for documentation, one of our next missions is to find good homes for the excess material. Our online auctions and direct sales serve that purpose: giving collectors the opportunity to find tremendous bargains while providing the archive with the funds needed to continue its preservation work.
We are a nonprofit repository, not an auction house. Our sales augment donations and grants to support preservation, research, education, and exhibition.

This is a living archive with new titles and images uploaded as they become available.
Shipments arrive from all over the world, usually without provenance or authentication. We receive hundreds of thousands of items every year. Sorting and cataloging are perpetual activities. Here are a few tips for assessing what you find.
We do have it — and some makes it to auction — but very limited quantities. The majority is retained by the archive for preservation. Most of what you see in our sales is later releases or high-quality reissues and reprints received from donors.
We have substantial holdings from this era. Much of it consists of later reissues, but not all. If you believe an item is original, examine the paper and condition carefully in the high-resolution image. Authentic material from this period will typically show slight browning, fading, curling, border tears, storage wear, and wrinkles — and will not be in perfect condition. Paper stock and printing methods were fundamentally different before the high-gloss era.
We hold posters and materials from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom. International items are identified by country code in item listings.
