Fifty Shades of Louisiana: A Filmmaker’s Paradise is now open at the MPA Gallery, 605 Lapalco Blvd. in Gretna, Louisiana. This fascinating exhibit premiered at the Slidell Cultural Center in January 2022. Edited for the new space, the revival exhibit features posters of films made in Louisiana dating to the early 1900s. A rare Swedish poster of Evangeline (1929) along with an original still of Dolores del Rio is a highlight of the exhibit.  


The Art of the Movie Poster

The next exhibition at the George Dunbar Gallery in the Slidell Cultural Center at City Hall, ”Art of the Movie Poster”, exhibiting pieces from the Movie Poster Archives (MPA), a collection of movie posters and artifacts since the golden age of cinema. This exhibit will highlight great poster artists and the evolution of the medium. The exhibit is on display January 13 – February 17, 2023 and is held in conjunction with the second annual The Art of Film: Louisiana Film Industry Expo, happening just across the street January 20-21 at the Slidell Municipal Auditorium.
